- Following the submission of the application and previously mentioned documents, the admission file is referred to the psychologist for reviewing to determine if the applicant is suitable. A testing date and time will be set following the psychologist’s recommendation.
- The student must have a full scale IQ below 80.
- The psychologist administers necessary assessment for placement.
- Student is placed in recommended level for teacher observation.
- Should the student be deemed suitable, the psychologist and the relevant teacher for approval compile a detailed report for the Superintendent.
- Upon the superintendent’s approval, the registrar contacts the parents and an acceptance letter is issued.
- DBS SEN students who wish to transfer to LSU need to meet the following criteria;
- Recommendation by the SEN Principal.
- Attendance in a Special Needs Red (full academic) class.
- A full scale IQ of 90 or above from an accredited institution.
- The student has a diagnosis of a learning difficulty or disability, ADHD or ADD.
- An academic level no less than two years below the grade level applied for.
- For new students wishing to join our LSU unit, the following criteria apply;
- The student must come from a mainstream school.
- A full scale IQ of 90 or above from an accredited institution.

A STUDENT WITH A DIAGNOSIS OF AUTISM, GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT DELAY, DOWN SYNDROME, OR MENTAL RETARDATION, WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR ASSESSMENT FOR LSU.
